• District councils shall consist of one councillor directly elected to represent an electoral area of a district; two councillors, one of whom shall be a female youth, representing the youths in the district; two councillors with disabilities, one of whom shall be a female, representing persons with disabilities; and a woman councillor directly elected to represent each electoral area in the district. Two older persons, a male and a female elected in accordance with the National council for older persons act, 2013; two members representing workers, one of whom shall be a female elected in accordance with the Labour unions act, 2006. (Local governments act, article 10)
• At least one of the offices of the secretaries referred to in subsection (2)(c) shall be held by a female. (Local governments act, article 16)
• A subcounty council shall consist of two youth councillors representing the youth in the subcounty, one of whom shall be a female youth; two councillors with disabilities, one of whom shall be a female, representing persons with disabilities in the subcounty; and a woman councillor directly elected to represent each parish in the subcounty. A town council shall consist of two councillors with disabilities representing persons with disabilities in the town; two youth councillors representing the youth in the town, one of whom shall be a female youth; and a woman councillor directly elected to represent each ward in the town council. There shall be two elderly persons, a male and a female, above the age of sixty years on every lower local government council who shall be elected by the respective executive committees of the associations of the elderly.
