Legal provisions - Electoral Law
• The organic charter or statute of the political party will establish the norms to which its organization and functioning must be adjusted. This is the fundamental law of the political party and will have to contain: Appropriate mechanisms for the promotion of women to elective positions in a percentage not below twenty per cent and the nomination of a significant proportion of them in decision-making public positions. In order to guarantee the participation of women in the collegiate bodies to be elected, their internal nomination as candidates must be given the ratio of one woman candidate for every five places on the lists, so that women may appear in any place but at a rate of one candidate for every five positions to be elected. Each party, movement or alliance promoting lists remains free to determine the ranking. Political parties, movements or alliances which do not complete the nominations of their internal elections according to these provisions will be sanctioned by not inscribing their lists in the respective electoral tribunals.
