Legal provisions - Parity Law
• For municipal elections, women will have the right to a minimum quota corresponding to 20% of municipal council seats. (Law on the promotion of access of women to electoral mandates and elective functions, article 2)
• To promote the election of women in the proportions indicated in article 2 above and under penalty of inadmissibility, the candidate lists for municipal elections must be established in such a way as to place the candidates in places eligible, depending on the number of advisers planned. These lists will include at least:
- 2 candidates for the councils of 9 and 11 councilors;
- 3 candidates for the councils of 15 and 17 councilors;
- 4 candidates for councils of 19, 21 and more councilors. (Law on the promotion of access of women to electoral mandates and elective functions, article 3)
• For regional elections, women will be entitled to a minimum quota of places on the candidate lists defined in accordance with the following indications:
- 2 candidates for the councils of 11 advisers;
- 3 candidates for the councils of 15 advisers;
- 4 candidates for the councils of 21 councilors;
- 5 candidates for the councils of more than 21 councilors. (Organic law amending the law on the promotion of access of women to electoral mandates and elective functions, article 2)
