Legal provisions - Parity Law
• Parity applies to any list of candidates for national and local elections, as well as for the holding of elective offices in public institutions ( Parity law, article 2)
• Candidates lists proposed by political parties must alternate the names of candidates of both sexes. A candidate's sex will be indicated by the title, "Madame or Sir." (Parity law, article 3)
• For uninominal elections, the title candidate must be of a different sex to that of the substitute candidate. (Parity law, article 5)
