Legal provisions - Party Law
• Parties and movements with legal status may register candidates for positions and corporations of popular election after verification of the fulfillment of the qualities and requirements of their candidates, as well as that they are not involved in grounds of incapacity or incompatibility. Said candidates must be chosen through democratic procedures, in accordance with their statutes. The lists where 5 or more seats are elected for popularly elected corporations or those that are submitted to consultation -except for their result- must be made up of at least 30% of one of the genders. (Law on the organization of the parties, article 28)
• The electoral authority before which the registration is made will verify compliance with the formal requirements required for the same and, if they find that they meet them, they will accept the application by signing the registration form in the corresponding box. The application for registration will be rejected, by means of a motivated act, when candidates other than those selected through popular or internal consultations are registered, or when the candidates have participated in the consultation of a party, political movement or coalition, other than the one that registers them. Against this act the appeal proceeds in accordance with the rules indicated in this law. In the event of the registration of two or more candidates or lists, the first registration will be considered valid, unless the second registration is expressly made as a modification of the first. (Law on the organization of the parties, article 32)
