Lower House:
• On each of the lists, neither the difference between the number of titular candidates of each sex nor the difference between the number of alternate candidates of each sex may be greater than one. Similarly, the difference between all the candidates of each sex on the same list can not be greater than one. Neither the first two candidates nor the first two alternate candidates on each of the lists may be of the same sex. (Electoral Code, article 117 bis)
• If a party fails to comply with the gender composition, their list shall be refused by the electoral authorities. (Electoral Code, Article 119 quinquies)
Upper House:
• On each of the lists, neither the difference between the number of titular candidates of each sex nor the difference between the number of alternate candidates of each sex may be greater than one. Similarly, the difference between all the candidates of each sex on the same list can not be greater than one. Neither the first two candidates nor the first two alternate candidates on each of the lists may be of the same sex. (Electoral Code, Article 117bis)
